Ureaplasma urealyticum

 Ureaplasma urealyticum database overview
The Ureaplasma urealyticum circular genome of 0.760 Mb was sequenced in 1999 by the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Department of Microbiology. The key publication describing this sequenced genome is "The complete sequence of the mucosal pathogen Ureaplasma urealyticum" by J.I. Glass, E.J. Lefkowitz, J.S. Glass, C.R. Heiner, E.Y. Chen and G.H. Cassell, Nature 407: 757-762, 2000. Approximately 124 additional references pertaining to Ureaplasma species can be extracted from the Molecular Subset of MEDLINE (U.urealyticum References).

The core information in this relational database is the table of annotated records for each gene. UU001 through UU604 identify the gene records of U.urealyticum. To these records analyses and links are appended, and from these, tables and graphics are dynamically derived. For a general perspective of the genome, go to the Gene Image Map and browse blocks of coordinates. Caution: The entire 751,719 base pair genome can be viewed at one time, however this large file can cause some machines to freeze. For a text discussion of the proteome and how it was annotated, go to the U.urealyticum Properties file. Finally, browsing is facilitated by the Functional Classes, EC Table, and Biochemical Pathways summaries. For precise inquiries on the other hand, start with the Search capabilities and their associated tables.
