From Prosite: S-adenosylmethionine synthetase is the enzyme that catalyzes the formation of S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) from methionine and ATP. AdoMet is an important methyl donor for transmethylation and is also the propylamino donor in polyamine biosynthesis.
