Comment:
This enzyme methylates DNA within the sequence GATC and protects the
DNA from cleavage by the restriction endonuclease MBO I.

Gapped BLAST revealed this protein is identical to DNA adenine
methyltransferase of Treponema pallidum,(AF006263). In addition there
were several other significant hits to DNA adenine methyltransferase
protein. For example residues 6-295 are 33% similar to DNA adenine
methyltransferase of Streptococcus pneumoniae,(M11226).
