Comment:
This protein is involved in nitrogen metabolism and glutamate biosynthesis.
The catalyzed reaction brings together the nitrogen and carbon
metabolism.

Reaction:
2 L-GLUTAMATE + NADP(+) = L-GLUTAMINE + 2-OXOGLUTARATE + NADPH.

There seems to be extra N-terminal region in this protein.

To what degree might this fulfill a function filled by thioredoxin reductase
(EC 1.6.4.5)?
