Comment:
This protein has a critical role in recombination and DNA repair. It
helps process Holliday junction intermediates to mature products by
catalysing branch migration. It has a DNA unwinding activity characteristic
of a DNA helicase with a 3' to 5' polarity. RecG unwind branched
duplex DNA (Y-DNA). It has a role in constitive stable DNA replication
(CSDR) and R-loop formation.

Gapped BLAST revealed this protein is identical to RecG of
Treponema pallidum,(U70661). In addition there were several other
significant hits to DNA recombinase RecG. For example residues 9-672
are 36% similar to RECG_ECOLI, DNA recombinase of E. coli,(AE000442).
