Comment:
In E. coli, nicotinate phosphoribosyltransferase is the first step
of the Preiss-Handler pathway leading to synthesis of NAD (EC 2.4.2.11).

Reaction:
NICOTINATE D-RIBONUCLEOTIDE + PYROPHOSPHATE =
NICOTINATE + 5-PHOSPHO-ALPHA-D-RIBOSE 1-DIPHOSPHATE.

Gapped BLAST revealed several significant hits to hypothetical proteins.
For example residues 1-487 are 38% similar to conserved hypothetical
protein of Borrelia burgdorferi,(AE001165). Several iterations of
PSI-BLAST revealed similarity to nicotinate phosphoribosyltransferase.
For example residues 4-478 are 34% similar to nicotinate
phosphoribosyltransferase of Bacillus subtilis,(Z99120).
