Comment:
V-type ATPases (more correctly the V-F0F1 type ATPases) are one of two
subgroups of the F0F1-ATPases (the other subgroup being the F-F0F1 type).
The V subgroup are found mainly in archaebacteria and the endomembrane
or vacuolar system of eukaryotic cells. However, there are examples of
V types in eubacteria such as the ntp cluster in Enterococcus hirae.
This cluster is believed to encode a Na-translocating V-type ATPase that
is expressed when the normal F-type ATPase is inoperative.
