MurF appears to signify the leftmost boundary of a gene region with high synteny to a region in T.denticola; FliJ at TP0403 marks the rightmost boundary.


MurF is involved in cell wall formation, specifically peptidoglycan
biosynthesis. It catalyses the final step in the synthesis of
UDP-N-acetylmuramoyl-pentapeptide, the precursor of murein.
