From GenBANK (gi:131629): 1-(5-phosphoribosyl)-5- amino-4-imidazole-carboxylate = 1-(5-phosphoribosyl) -5-aminoimidazole + CO(2). This is involved in the sixth step in de novo purine biosynthesis. PurK is similar to other fungal and plant air carboxylase and to the air carboxylase proteins, purE and purK, from eubacteria.
