Comment:
From GenBANK (gi:1717752): This protein is weakly similar to tropinone reductase of Datura stramonium which catalyzes the stereospecific reduction of tropinone to tropine by the reaction: tropine + NADP(+) = tropinone + NADPH. It is involved in the biosynthetic pathway of tropane alkaloids. This homodimer belongs to the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) family.
