From GenBANK (gi:13959397): This protein catalyzes the reaction: inosine 5'-phosphate + NAD(+) + H2O = xanthosine 5'-phosphate + NADH. This is the first reaction unique to GMP biosynthesis. This homotetramer is similar to other eukaryotic and prokaryotic IMPDH and to GMP reductase. It contains 2 CBS domains.
