Comment:
From GenBANK (gi:1708631): The function of this protein in E. coli is the synthesis of KDO 8-P which is required for lipid A maturation and cellular growth. Catalytic activity: 2-dehydro-3-deoxy-D-octonate 8-phosphate + orthophosphate = phosphoenolpyruvate + D-arabinose 5-phosphate + H2O, the first step in liposaccharide biosynthesis. It is a homotrimer and belongs to the kdsa family.
