From GenBANK (gi:400622): In the mouse, Ntg1 sodium- and chloride-dependent GABA transporter 1 terminates the action of GABA by its high affinity sodium-dependent reuptake into presynaptic terminals. It is an integral membrane protein specific to the brain. This protein is the target of psychomotor stimulants such as amphetamines or cocaine, and it belongs to the sodium:neurotransmitter symporter family (SNF).
