Comment:
This enzyme is designated component E1 of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex, which
converts pyruvate to acetyl CoA and CO2. Dihydrolipoamide acetyltransferase
(MG272) is the E2 component and lipoamide dehydrogenase (MG271) is the E3
component. The alpha subunit of the E1 component is encoded by MG274.
