Gene ID: MG235

DNA Molecule Name:
1

Genbank ID:

Gene Name:
nfo

Definition:
endonuclease IV

Gene Start:
279798

Gene Stop:
280670

Gene Length:
873

Molecular Weight*:
32378

pI*:
7.75

Net Charge*:
2.88

EC:
3.1.21.2

Functional Class:
Replication; Degradation of DNA

Pathway: pathway table
Miscellaneous enzymes

Comment:
DNA repair at the AP sites is initiated by specific endonuclease cleavage of the phosphodiester backbone. Such endonucleases are also generally capable of removing blocking groups from the 3'terminus of DNA strand breaks.

Blast Summary:  PSI-Blast Search
Hits in gapped BLAST to endonuclease IV sequences, e.g. residues 1-283 are 66% similar to END4_MYCPN. Residues 5-280 are 35% similar to END4_BACSU.

MG235 is orthologously related to MP0508: residues 1-283 of MG235 are 66% similar to residues 1-283 of MP0508, a predicted endonuclease IV from M. pneumoniae. MG235 is also similar to prediced endonuclease IV sequences from U. urealyticum (UU306), C. pneumoniae (CPn0732), and C. trachomatis (CT625). No similarity is observed to T. pallidum sequences.

COGS Summary:  COGS Search
The phylogenetic pattern of COG0648 is EHgpcMyu.
COG name: Endonuclease IV and related predicted endonucleases.
Functional Class: L
BeTs to --g--my-.

Blocks Summary:  Blocks Search
Residues 68-81, 105-114, 153-192, 206-239, 251-262 represent blocks BL00729A-E AP endonucleases).

ProDom Summary:  Protein Domain Search
Residues 25-169, 170-244, 262-291 constitute defined domains of END4_MYCGE.

Paralogs:  Local Blast Search
No paralogs in M. genitalium.

Pfam Summary:  Pfam Search
Residues 5 to 238 (E-value = 2.6e-82) place MG235 in the AP_endonuc_2 family which is described as AP endonuclease family 2 (PF01261)
