Comment:
This enzyme plays a key control step in glycolysis. It catalyzes the following non-reversible reaction:

ATP + D-Fructose-6-Phosphate -> ADP + D-Fructose-1,6,-Bisphosphate.

By similarity to other pfkA enzymes, this enzyme is subject to allosteric activation by ADP, is inhibited by phosphoenolpyruvate and functions as a homotetramer.
