This protein is involved in the formation of pseudouridine in the
anticodon stem and loop of tRNAs.

Gapped BLAST revealed several significant hits
to pseudouridine synthetase/ tRNA-pseudouridine synthase I proteins.
For example residues 3-243 are 58% similar to TRUA_MYCPN, pseudouridylate
synthase I of Mycoplasma pneumoniae,(AE000061). Residues 4-242 are
32% similar to tRNA-pseudouridine synthase I of Bacillus sp.,(M84963).
In addition residues 1-217 are 28% similar to TP0830, pseudouridylate
synthase of T. pallidum and residues 8-242 are 29% similar to CT463,
pseudouridine synthetase of C. trachomatis.
