From GenBank (gi:114596): AtpE produces ATP from ADP in the presence of a proton gradient across the membrane. F-type ATPases have two components, CF(1), the catalytic core, and CF(0), the membrane proton channel. CF(1) has five subunits: ALPHA(3), BETA(3), GAMMA(1), DELTA(1), and EPSILON(1). CF(0) has three main subunits: A, B and C.

See also other chains of the F1 subunit: atpD (delta chain), HD0007; atpB (beta chain), HD0010; atpD (delta chain), HD0008; atpG (gamma chain), HD0009.

In addition, see chains of the F0 subunit of this ATPase: atpF (B chain), HD0006; and atp6 (A chain), HD0004; and atpL (C chain), HD0005.
