DNA metabolism

Pathway: pathway table

Comment:
IHFB and DBH proteins are bacterial histone-like
proteins
constituted of alpha and beta chains. Both alpha
and beta subunits
appear to be similar to CPn0416. IHF is involved
in recombination and perhaps transcriptional and
translational
control. DBH proteins are stress-related
proteins (DNA condensation).

From Prosite PDOC00044:

Bacteria synthesize a set of small, usually
basic proteins of about 90 residues that bind
DNA and are known as histone-like proteins. The
exact function of these proteins is not yet
clear but they are capable of wrapping DNA and
stabilizing it from denaturation under extreme
environmental conditions.

Blast Summary:  PSI-Blast Search
No similarities to M. genitalium, T. pallidum
or U. urealyticum sequences.

CPn0416 is orthologously related to CT267, a
predicted histone-like DNA binding protein (IHFA,IHFB or DBH). They share 97% similarity.
