Comment:
This protein is identical to GenBank accession AAD18267 (genome position accession AE001598). This methylase is thought to promote the oxidation of protoporphyrinogen. (May have DNA methylating activity).

The top hits in Gapped-BLAST were to protoporphyrinogen oxidases which are assigned the EC number 1.3.3.4 in the Enzyme Data Bank.
Several hits to hypothetical adenine-specific methylases were observed at lower significance levels. The EC number assigned to these proteins by Swiss-Prot is 2.1.1.72. see CT024.
