Comment:
In E. coli, the Aas protein is an integral membrane protein that transfers fatty acids in the course of lysophospholipid acylation. See CT775.

Hits in gapped BLAST to 2-acylglycerophosphoethanolamine acyltransferase sequences, e.g. residues 68-529 are 26% similar to AAS_ECOLI. Many hits are to coumarate-CoA ligases (EC 6.2.1.12).

CT776 is orthologous to CPn0922: residues 1-535 are 55% similar to CPn0922. Residues 326-454 are 33% similar to a stretch of TP0145 from T. pallidum (predicted long-chain fatty acid CoA ligase). This protein is also similar to PG1596, a predicted long-chain-fatty-acid-CoA ligase from Porphyromonas gingivalis. No similarity to M. genitalium.
