Aromatic aminotransferases are generally involved in the synthesis of Phe, Tyr, Asp and Leu (gene tyrB). The sequence around the pyridoxal-phosphate attachment site of this class of enzyme is sufficiently conserved to allow the creation of a specific pattern.
