Comment:
In E.coli, D-Ala-D-Ala Carboxypeptidase removes the C-terminal D-alanyl residues from
sugar-peptide cell wall precursors.
This enzyme is involved in the final stages of peptidoglycan synthesis.
It is believed to be located in the inner membrane with its N-terminal in
the periplasmic space.
Through similarity, DacC belongs to the peptidase family S11; also, known
as the D-Alanyl-D-Alanine carboxypeptidase I family.
