Comment:
Bacterial RNA polymerase consists of a sigma factor and
a core enzyme composed of two alpha, one beta and one beta'
chains. The beta and beta' chains in trachomatis are
CT315 and CT314 respectively. Sigma factors are CT615
(RPOD) and CT609 (sigma-54).

Numerous hits in gapped BLAST to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase
alpha chain sequences, e.g. residues 17-347 are 36% similar to
RPOA_BACSU. CT507 is virtually identical to an RNA polymerase alpha
sequence from trachomatis, L33834. Residues 37-339 are
26% similar to another subunit sequence from trachomatis, L09636
(yet paralogs were not found). CT507 is 28% similar to
the subunit from M.genitalium, MG177. It is also similar to TP0212 in
T.pallidum.

CT507 is orthologously related to CPn0626: residues 1-377 of CT507 are 84% similar to residues 1-374 of CPn0626, a DNA-directed RNA polymerase alpha subunit, rpoA, from C. pneumoniae.
