Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (EC 1.2.1.12) (GAPDH) is a tetrameric NAD-binding enzyme common to both the glycolytic and gluconeogenic pathways. A cysteine in the middle of the molecule is involved in forming a covalent phosphoglycerol thioester intermediate.

Hits in gapped BLAST to GAPDH sequences, e.g. residues
1-329 are 58% similar to G3P_TRYBB. CT505 is virtually
identical to U83198, a glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate
dehydrogenase from trachomatis and residues 1-82 are
equal to L33834, also a GAPDH subsequence from trachomatis. CT505 is
similar to TP0844 in T.pallidum and to MG301 in M.genitalium, both predicted
G3P dehydrogenases.

This sequence is orthologous to PG1857 of P. gingivalis.

CT505 is orthologously related to CPn0624 and
they share 74% similarity.
