translation; protein modification

Pathway: pathway table
Metabolism of Cofactors, Vitamins, and Other Substances; Folate biosynthesis
Metabolism of Cofactors, Vitamins, and Other Substances; Ubiquinone biosynthesis

Comment:
This enzyme joins lipoic acid to protein, through an amide
linkage between the carboxyl group of lioate and the epsilon-amino
group of a lysine residue. See CT285.

Blast Summary:  PSI-Blast Search
Hits in gapped BLAST to lipoate protein ligase sequences, e.g.
residues 44-164 are 27% similar to LPLA_MYCGE. Running
Psi-BLAST does not reveal any distantly related sequences
other than hypothetical proteins. No similarities to T.pallidum or M.genitalium.

CT499 is orthologously related to CPn0618:
residues 4-233 are 53% similar to residues
5-234.
