Gene ID: CT238

DNA Molecule Name:
1

Genbank ID:

Gene Name:
fabD  tfpA

Definition:
malonyl CoA-acyl carrier protein transacetylase

Gene Start:
265973

Gene Stop:
265050

Gene Length:
924

Molecular Weight*:
33522

pI*:
4.69

2.3.1.39

Functional Class:
fatty acid and phospholipid metabolism

Pathway: pathway table
Lipid Metabolism; Fatty acid biosynthesis

Comment:
An Xray crystallographic structure is available for this protein,
which is involved, as are CT236, CT237, CT239, CT104, in fatty
acid biosynthesis. CT236, CT237, CT238, and CT239 are
apparently part of a single operon. See also CT770 and CT532.

Blast Summary:  PSI-Blast Search
Numerous hits in gapped BLAST to polyketide synthase and malonyl CoA
acyl carrier sequences, e.g. residues 3-300 are approximately 28%
similar to the polyketide synthase sequence from M. tuberculosis.
Residues 1-302 are 33% similar to FABD_ECOLI. No similarities to T.pallidum or M.genitalium. Similar to PG124 of P.gingivalis.

CT238 is orthologous to CPn0297: residues 3-303 are 60% similar to
CPn0297.

COGS Summary:  COGS Search
BeTs to 10 clades of COG0331
COG name: (acyl-carrier-protein) S-malonyltransferase
Functional Class:  I
The phylogenetic pattern of COG0331 is ----YqvceBRhuj----inx
Number of proteins in this genome belonging to this COG is 1

Blocks Summary:  Blocks Search
None.

ProDom Summary:  Protein Domain Search
Residues 70-192 have as a closest domain relationships a 34%
similarity to FABD_HAEIN, a malonyl CoA-acyl carrier protein
transacetylase. Residues 3-66, 7-55 and 194-285 correspond
to definable domains seen in FABD_BACSU and FAS1_YARLI.

Paralogs:  Local Blast Search
No evidence of paralogs in C. trachomatis

Pfam Summary:  Pfam Search
Residues 5 to 306 (E-value = 2.3e-10) place CT238 in the Acyl_transf_1 family which is described as Acyl transferase domain (PF00698)
