Comment:
This enzyme, also known as amylomaltase, catalyzes the conversion
of maltose to alpha-D-glucose. CT087 corresponds to orf E
of U88070 (Hsia et al., Mol. Microbiol. 25:351,1997), which
was sequenced from C. psittaci and also thought to be a malQ
product. The similarity to wheat gliadins is curious.

This sequence is 58% identical to orf E of U88070 sequenced from
C. psittaci. Significant similarities are found using gapped BLAST
to 4-alpha glucanotransferases from E. coli, Hin, Clostridium and
Synechocystis. No similarities to T.pallidum or M.genitalium.
CT087 is orthologously related to CPn0326: residues 20-526 are 57% similar to CPn0326.
